Unwind Mission Beach

Two hours south of Cairns lies a little patch of paradise called Mission Beach, an undiscovered gem in the Tropical North Queensland coastline. Here you’ll find no crowds and no stress, only 14km of untouched, palm-fringed beaches and amazing adventures close by. Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, hike and bike the trails of the Wet Tropics Rainforest, jump into a waterfall or have an exhilarating encounter with a cassowary (if you’re lucky!). Check out what to do in and around Mission Beach here. You’ll need a car to best explore the region.

We’ve collated our favourite hotels and touring operators below. If you find something you like, follow the links to book directly with the business or feel free to drop us a message if you have any questions. Oh and just so you know, Unwind North Queensland exclusively promotes businesses that are locally-owned, COVID-safe and Good to Go!

About Castaways

Somewhere not so far away lies a resort located on a palm-tree lined, sandy beach with waterfalls and remote islands close by… No, this isn’t some far flung exotic destination, this is Castaways Resort Mission Beach – just 2 hours south of Cairns or north of Townsville. Their beachfront rooms are great for couples or families and there’s not one but two pools to sip a cocktail around. Speaking of which, make sure you book in to their fantastic restaurant & bar on-site – check out BUKO here. You’ll need to drive to get to Castaways, so here’s a hot tip: pack your bikes in the back of the car (or rent them when you get here) so you can ride along the beach and best explore what the destination has to offer.
